Learning To Imitate Jesus

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012 by ejones

This week in the Children’s Ministry, the kids learned about imitating Jesus and how important it is to live like Jesus.

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children” Ephesians 5:1 NIV

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children” Ephesians 5:1 NLT

We continue to challenge the children to read and study their Bibles!  If we are going to imitate Christ we must know the Bible.   Below are some basic facts about the Bible that we need to encourage our children to learn.

  1. What is the most important book that has ever been written?  A – The Bible
  2. What is the Bible?  A – God’s word to man.
  3. What is another term for the Bible?  A – The Holy Scriptures
  4. Does the Bible contain any errors or mistakes?  A – No, God cannot lie or make mistakes.
  5. Was not the Bible written by men?  A – Yes, but they were men inspired by God in such a way as to keep them from writing errors. “All scripture is inspired by God.” (2 Tim 3:16) “Men, moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” (2 Peter 1:21)
  6. What are the two main divisions of the Bible?  A – The Old Testament and New Testament.
  7. What is the dividing point between the Old and New Testament?  A – The birth of Jesus.
  8. In what language was the Old Testament originally written?  A – Hebrew
  9. In what language was the New Testament originally written?  A – Greek

Learning John 3:16

Thursday, May 31st, 2012 by ejones

All of the children in the Children’s Ministry at CCC have been given a challenge.  Their challenge is to learn the verse John 3:16 and be able to recite it!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”      ~John 3:16

A Video To Help Learn John 3:16

Watch the video that we show the kids during worship time on Sunday mornings to help them relate to the verse and learn it.

Parents, be sure to help your children learn this important verse.

Some Facts About John 3:16

  1. John 3:16  is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Christian Bible.
  2. The verse has been called the most famous Bible verse.
  3. It has also been called the “Gospel in a nutshell”.
  4. The phrase “John 3:16″ is very short and can be written inconspicuously in out-of-the-way locations. In the U.S., the In-N-Out Burger chain prints it on the inside of the bottom rim of their paper cups, clothing chain Forever 21 and Heritage (1981) print it on the bottom of their shopping bags, and Tornado Fuel Saver prints it on the box.
  5. The Heisman-winning American football player Tim Tebow printed this reference (among other Bible verses) on his eye black, notably during the 2009 BCS championship.   Exactly three years later on January 8, 2012, was the game that would become known as “The 3:16 game“, where Tebow threw for 316 yards in a playoff upset against the Pittsburgh Steelers; a game in which measurements of 3, 16 and 31.6 were also noted, “John 3 16″ became the top Google search in the US.
