A Need and an Opportunity to Make an Eternal Difference

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 by Jack Homesley

Because you are either a friend or member of Christ Community Church, you understand the urgency and eternal impact of our efforts as a church everyday to actively seek the Lost, win them to Jesus and develop them into Christ-like, Church-Planting Missionaries.  There are so many opportunities before us. Just last evening I attended our Missions Meeting where we heard from one of our people on the field in India, Scott Ray.  Scott and his wife Amanda are members of CCC, called by God and sent by YOU through your gifts to CCC.  He’s one of us!  Here’s some of what he just reported last night:

“Hey CCC!  Back before we came back on stateside in 2010, you gave for a motorcycle for one of our master trainers:  RL ….we continue to work with him and spent today mapping out his network…..in 2010 and 2011 he (and his leaders) started a combined 71 groups and churches…up to 3 generations of churches….THANK YOU for helping this brother and for praying for our ministry.”

RL Plants Many New Churches (over 71)!

71 groups and churches planted! And…over 75 percent of these are in villages or areas that have NEVER had a Christian witness whatsoever. What a victory!  And, remember that this is a report from only ONE of our missionaries and only ONE area of their work. Vast, amazing opportunities abound and your generosity is making a difference.

But with each of these opportunities come substantial costs to continue our mission and work as a church.  Because we do not sell a tangible product and we don’t receive any government help, we depend entirely on the generosity of members and friends like you to provide the resources necessary to keep people like the Ray’s, the Essman’s and many others on the field.

The needs of your church are great at this time. We want to send more, help more, see more lives changed and ultimately win more for Christ, but we’re facing serious financial challenges at year’s end.  We need over $250,000. in year-end giving before midnight, December 31st.  This would make up our deficit and help launch us into the new year with great energy and the ability to continue to boldly take the gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth.

I know you join me in wanting to do all we can to reach as many as we can in anyway possible with the uncompromising truth that Jesus saves.

Please pray about how you can help, and  learn how you can help us get a head start on filling this need by giving right now.

We’re grateful for God’s faithfulness, and we ask you to exercise generosity today as we plan for next year!  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

With assurance of His provision,

Jack Homesley

Update from Romania – Josh & Melissa Essman, CCC Missionaries on the field!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 by Jack Homesley
“Are you a Mila or a Lola?”
Hey guys,
FYI twice a month we will be sending an email and a blog update.  The blog will give you a look at what we are physically doing here in Romania and prayer requests and the email will be more of a spiritual update and things God has brought up since the last email.
Have you ever watched a believer in Christ who was on fire for God?  It didn’t matter who they were speaking to.  It didn’t matter if that person was African American, Caucasian, Latino, Chinese, African, etc.  Whether or not they were Catholic, Atheist, Unitarian, Buddhist, Orthodox, or Muslim.  The light of Christ was glaringly obvious and it made everything around him or her shine with the light of Christ.  Have you ever seen those people?  Have you ever been that person?  Can you imagine the impact you might have or do have?  How easy or difficult would that be to commit yourself to such joy!?
On the other hand, have you ever watched a believer in Christ who was struggling with their faith?  I’m not talking about the person who questions what he or she believes, I’m talking about the believer who attends church every Sunday and is critical of what he or she thinks about the sermon or worship time or offering.  Maybe you have seen those people, maybe you were that person at one point?  You see the one who questions is in a better position that the one who criticizes.  The latter does not seek answers and solutions and is therefore luke warm; we all know what the Bible speaks of luke warm people…Which one do you want to be?
You might be wondering why I titled this email, “Are you a Mila or a Lola?”  As we moved into our new home here in Romania we have two dogs now,  Mila and Lola.  Mila is spit-fire!  She knows no stranger and loves without condition.  Lola is the opposite, she is very critical of everyone until you PROVE to her your intentions.  My challenge to you is simple…(or is it)….to treat others as you would want to be treated and love your neighbors/subdivision/community as yourself.  If you look in the book of Acts, the name Christian was first used.  If you read it carefully you will notice that people didn’t call themselves Christians but outsiders and those who did not know Christ called the believers Christians!
Jesus says in John 13:34-35, ” A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  They will know us by our love…let this resound like a crashing symbol throughout your week and show the love of Christ at work and to everyone around you!  Be a Mila!!

Missions Update from Africa!

UPDATE FROM THE FIELD from TRENT & CARMEN POST
Hello family and friends!! Just wanted to give you a few updates of what has been going on.  We thank you for your prayers they have gotten us through some rough times.  Know that HE has given us peace and comfort all it all.  We are exactly where HE wants us to be and that for us is perfect.  We are finally settled in our home and it feels great. We are serving HIM ALL-OUT everyday in every way with each person HE puts in our paths.

UPDATES:

CAR: we got our car fixed and it wasn’t the problem we originally thought. We were able to get it fixed for a reasonable price and GOD sent an honest ethiopian man our way.  He was so completly fair that we gave him more than he asked. His name is Sammy and we will be keeping him around as our mechanic.  We had another issue with our car a week later where the key wouldn’t come out of the ignition and it wouldn’t go into park. It was a hectic few hours for us but Sammy came and fixed it with no charge because he said we took care of him and provided enough money where he could celebrate New Years with a chicken meal. GOD is so good. the enemy has tried to get us down through silly things such as the car but he has no power.

HOUSE: The kids have gotten their beds and they are enjoying them. We are still living out of bins as we await the furniture that is being made.  Our pressure for the water is off a bit except on Friday and Saturday so that is when I enjoy washing my hair. The rest of the time we are possibly taking cold showers b/c the pressure will not allow the hot water to come through. Not all the time but most of the time. We are getting no consistency. Power is off frequently but because of one of our supporters we are able to buy a generator.
We currently have 3 girls living with us that are a part of our family. 1 of them lived with us last year. Pray for them by name please Amellawork, Jerri, Lucy. U will learn more about them in the upcoming months.

Kids: Gavin and Kiki have officially started homeschool as of today. Its nice and quite and they are doing well. I may just love this time with my babies!!

Ministry: We have taken Abduls sister to the doctor for Kidney issues (she is now on antibiotics) we have taken Abduls mom to the dr 2 times. She is a widow and has 6 children we want to come along side her and help her open a shop to sale injera (staple food) so that she can take care of her babies. We will do this through a micro loan. If you would like to help with this let us know. But we must get her healthy first. If you would like to know more about this family please go to my facebook page under notes and u will see all about how GOD crossed our paths last summer. Belay is training in the mountains. He wants to be in the Olympics next year. We led Him along with Abdul to JESUS last summer. Belay will probaly start to live with us after his training. GOD has called us to come along side and help him to achieve his dreams of becoming a great runner. Hopefully this week will be opening our first boys home so excitiing!! please pray with us through this. At the present we have several rooms that are rented for the boys. We were able to go and give out over 420 notebooks and school supplies, clothes and shoes due to a friends giving. Thank you for allowing us to serve the least of these through your giving. What a privilege.

FAMILY: Tuesday is family day for us and all day it will be just our family no matter what. Every other Friday we will have a date night just Trent and I. It’s getting better as we settling in a little bit and everyday is fully focused on getting something for the house. We’re eating at our table every night (all 8 of us, except Tuesday’s) and haveing our family devo’s in the morning so things are good.

PRAYER:

- Les & Maxine (head of Organization)  are leaving in two weeks for the US, they will be there for two months. We will be in charge and be given authority to make the calls while they’re gone; kind of the throw em’ in the deep end and learn to swim mentality. Pray for God wisdom as we learn by experience.

- Unity, peace and protection of over our family

- Jesus be seen and glorified through it all

We have a blog going at   alloutforhim.wordpress.com      So go to our site and subscribe so you can follow more of our day to day experiences.

ALL-OUT!

CCC/HOSKINS AVE. UPDATE!!! The work is going strong!

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011 by Jack Homesley

“It was hard work but they dug in and went at it non-stop except for a quick lunch and then it was back to the grindstone.  The missionary heart of the folks from CCC never cease to amaze me.”                                                                      – Mary Hoyle, leader at Hoskins Avenue

CCC Family,

Recently Christ Community Church entered into a partnership with Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church, coming alongside them to help revive this once vibrant and healthy church in the inner city of Charlotte. Hoskins Avenue is strategically located to reach thousands upon thousands for Christ, but like many inner-city churches where the demographic make-up of the community has changed, Hoskins had ceased growing and was unable to reach their community.

We are in the 1st phase of a 3 phase Progressive Partnership Plan with them, during which we are working together to build trust between our churches by providing speakers from CCC on Sundays and helping with a few projects.  Hoskins’ Interim Pastor (retired full-time minister John Jonson), is a very godly, faithful man who has served Hoskins Ave well for some time. However he has some limiting health issues that he must watch and so CCC is supplementing Pastor John’s speaking schedule with CCC pastors and interns with Pastor John’s full blessing and approval.  He is a godly man, not worried about gaining personal recognition through this, but working hard to play a crucial role in this wonderful plan to glorify Christ Jesus by re-launching Hoskins Avenue Baptist as a vital force for the gospel in this desperately needy area.

I wanted you to see an exchange of recent emails between myself and some of the key leaders at Hoskins Avenue.  They are SO grateful and cooperative for what we’re doing and wanted to say, “THANK YOU” to YOU for the mission CCC is accomplishing!  May your heart be encouraged as you see what God is doing through our church family!  The work is simply amazing! Here are the emails:

To Everyone on the Team at Hoskins Avenue!

I am excited that the journey we’re on is continuing so well. I know that the members of Hoskins and Christ Community are very excited! People keep asking me, “When can I get involved?” and that’s a good sign. Our last meeting went very well and I appreciate everyone being SO cooperative and willing to simply make sure that first and foremost, we are doing what JESUS would want. That is of the utmost importance! I look forward to our training sessions together in the near future!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m excited that Pastor Derrick Seegars is coming to speak there tomorrow and I’ll be praying for God’s Holy Spirit to have complete control of the service that lives might be changed and even some souls saved!  Derrick is one of the finest men I know, period. He has a wonderful “shepherd’s heart” and LOVES to care for people.  You’ll all enjoy hearing his “heart” as he brings God’s Word to you. I have no finer men to offer for your service than Alan Higgins and Derrick Seegars. I’m doing everything I can to still do ministry with the utmost excellence here at CCC and share our very best with you!
May the Lord bless us all with unity, commitment and passion as we continue our work to see Hoskins Avenue re-launched with joy, enthusiasm and love!  May the gospel of Jesus Christ be preached to the area like never before!  Let’s communicate really well if we have any questions, concerns, etc. From my end, everything looks very, very healthy and I think the Lord Jesus is pleased with the process so far. I absolutely KNOW that if we surrender our will and plans to HIS will and plans, the very best days ever for Hoskins Ave are AHEAD and not behind!  I promise to do my part and the membership of CCC is with you, praying and supporting this too! Blessings on you all until we meet again soon! I can’t wait to continue the journey!

FROM: Mary Hoyle @ Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church

Hi Jack,

Thank you so much for the continuing words of encouragement and wisdom….

Pastor Derrick spoke here at Hoskins yesterday and what a blessing!!!   I agree – he has a shepherd’s heart and it is evident in all that he does and we’re looking forward to the next time he’s here to bring the message.   His message was timely and appropriate to this time of Hoskins’ life and was encouraging, joyous, and a lamp for the path that we’re on.

We’ve been so very blessed with all the visiting pastors from CCC as well as other members who’ve gone out of their way to come and worship with us.  I know they have their own responsibilities at CCC that they attend to on Sunday mornings and then rush over to be with us – what a ministry on their part…

And for those who may not have heard…George, Mike, and Steve spent their entire Saturday here at Hoskins paining the nursery, preparing it to receive the children who will be coming soon.  It was hard work but they dug in and went at it non-stop except for a quick lunch and then it was back to the grindstone.   The missionary heart of the folks from CCC never cease to amaze me.

It’s not quite finished yet, but already it looks 100% better than before.  I wish I had thought to take ‘before’ pictures, but Jack can tell you all how bad it was.  The paint had become dingy over the years and had taken on an industrial hue, and I don’t even want to talk about the carpet.   When it’s finished and the floors have been installed, we’ll send pictures.  Of course, we’d love to take everyone on a personal tour as well.

We’re looking forward to the future again with hope for the neighborhood – still don’t know what that picture will look like, but now with the help of the wonderful people of CCC, we know it’s going to be beautiful!!!

Praying for each of you.

Mary Hoyle
