A weekend of in-depth Bible Study designed to help you GROW in your faith! Christ Community is honored to have one of the premier Old Testament Scholars in the nation on our campus to teach and guide us in uncovering amazing truths from the books of 1 and 2 Samuel.

The schedule includes both Friday and Saturday evening sessions along with time for personal Q&A time with Dr. Beyer following each session. Here’s your schedule:

Dr. Bryan BeyerInterim Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences & Biblical Languages Program Director – Columbia International University, Columbia South Carolina

Dr. Beyer came to CIU in 1985 to teach Bible. He served as undergraduate academic dean from 1994 – 2001 and as CIU’s dean of students from 2001 – 2004, then returned to the classroom on the faculty of CIU’s Seminary & School of Missions in 2004. As of May 15, he serves as the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at CIU. Dr. Beyer enjoys the outdoors, as well as spending time with his family. His desire is to help students however he can to know God better, find His direction and fully go after it. Indeed, Dr. Beyer’s desire to impact the lives of students is what gets him up in the morning!

Since 1997, Dr. Beyer has served as Chair of the Associated Schools for Jerusalem University College, and since 2003, as General Bible/Old Testament Book Review Editor for the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (JETS). He has served as faculty advisor to the International Students Ministries at CIU and regularly takes students to Israel on summer study tours. His overseas ministry has included teaching at Portantorchas Bible School in Costa Rica, at the Center for Christian Leadership in Tirana, Albania, at CIU’s branch campus in Korntal, Germany, and Israel study tours for church groups.

Bryan has written extensively for LifeWay Christian Resources. His book Encountering the Old Testament: A Christian Survey (2nd ed., Baker Academic, 2008), co-authored with Bill Arnold, is a nationally-acclaimed college textbook, and also has appeared in German, Chinese, Portuguese, and Korean translations. He also has written Encountering the Book of Isaiah: A Historical and Theological Survey (Baker Academic, 2007), and co-edited Readings from the Ancient Near East: Primary Sources for Old Testament Study (with Bill Arnold; Baker Academic, 2002).  Bryan and his wife Yvonne have been married 36 years and have three married children and four granddaughters. A fifth grandchild is expected around Thanksgiving.
