CCC VOTES ON CALLING DR. ED GRAVELY THIS SUNDAY!!!

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011 by Jack Homesley

With great joy and excitement our Personnel Team recently announced the calling of Dr. Ed Gravely, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and History of Ideas at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to Christ Community Church to serve as a full-time Pastor of Discipleship!

Dr. Gravely and his wife Angela are excited and also feel that this is God’s direction for their lives.  Personally, I cannot be more excited about the possibility of having Dr. Gravely on staff here teaching us the Word of God and training our teachers to convey the life-changing truths of God’s Holy Word.  Dr. Gravely is full of passion, one of the most gifted communicators I’ve ever heard and one of the premier intellectuals/apologists in Christianity today. The thought of having DR. ED GRAVELY on our staff is stirring beyond imagination and really brightens the future for CCC! It brings discipleship at CCC to a whole new level previously unattainable. Our Personnel Team feels the same way and feels certain that this is God’s will.

Please click on the following link to view Ed Gravely’s Resume and a Ministry Description.  You’ll discover more about his long list of qualifications, skills and experience – both at a seminary and church level.  He is a wonderfully gifted man of God.

There will be a CALLED CONFERENCE THIS SUNDAY, September 4th at 10:15AM to vote on his calling. What a great day for CCC!!! This is a true gift from our Father in Heaven! If approved, Dr. Gravely, his wife Angela and their two children (Claire and Will), would move to the area in late December and begin their work here in January, 2012!  Please be in prayer and joyfully attend the church conference on Sunday, September 4th at 10:15AM to affirm their calling to CCC!  Both Ed and Angela will be here eager to meet you on that day! I invite you to introduce yourself to them and welcome them as part of the CCC Family!!!  Be encouraged! The future is as bright as the promises of God!

Excited beyond measure,

Pastor Jack

Questions?

Monday, August 29th, 2011 by Grace Meeks

Am I battling depression?

Do I “blow up” in anger/rage at the ones I love?

Is the guilt/shame of my past weighing me down?

Is someone I love being brought down by drug or alcohol addiction?

Do I struggle with addiction (alcohol, drugs, food, sex, shopping, etc.)?

                                      Are my relationships in disarray?

Do I constantly beat myself up when I feel “blah” instead of blessed?

Do I isolate instead of reach out in stressful times?

Am I struggling with the pain of being raised by an alcoholic or drug addicted parent?

Have I been raped or sexually abused and I just can’t seem to “get over it”?

Do I judge my insides against other people’s outsides?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, Celebrate Recovery is the place for you! Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step discipleship program for ALL hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Let’s face it, we all struggle with something! God never intended for us to ride the road of these struggles alone. There is only one way to true recovery and that is through the healing power of Jesus Christ!

Come check us out any Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. – we’re ALWAYS open for YOU!
